IntroductionAdolescence is a challenging developmental stage in which adolescents experience significant changes in their academic and work life due to the mismatch between developmental needs and the learning environment during puberty. Among the important abilities in adolescence is a set of psychological abilities known as positive psychological capital. Psychological capital is the positive aspect of human life and is defined based on personal understanding, having a goal to achieve success and stability against problems. Psychological capital is an integrated and interconnected structure of which resilience is a part. Resilience is defined as the process of optimal adaptation in the face of problems, traumatic events, threats, or any stressful situation that may occur in life.Resilience is an ability and skill that enables a person to adapt to problems and challenges. This factor contributes to the positive development process of adolescence. This study examined the effect of the relationship between optimism with resilience with the mediation of self-efficacy in adolescence.MethodThe aim of the present study is applied research and correlational data collection which is done through structural equation modeling. The participants are male and female sixth graders and first and second high school students who were studying in Bushehr in 1400-1401. 12 schools were randomly selected from each Bushehr elementary, first, and second high school. To test the research hypothesis, 600 students were selected through using a multi-stage cluster sampling method. Due to the conditions and limitations of the coronavirus disease, questionnaires were provided to students via social media such as Shad, Telegram, and WhatsApp, and eventually, out of 600 distributed questionnaires, 97 questionnaires were rejected and 503 questionnaires with valid information were identified and used in the analysis. Instruments included were a questionnaire Muris's (2001) Self-Efficacy Scales (SEQ-C), DeCaroli John and Sagon's (2014) Resilience Questionnaire, and Sher and Carver's (1985) optimism questionnaire. Analysis with the help of structural equation modeling was performed using SPSS and AMOS-24. In this study for the final assessment of questionnaires to measure Self-Efficacy, Resilience, and optimism Cronbach's alpha was used, and its values, respectively, were 0.90, 0.91, and 0.62.ResultsBased on the presented model, the relationship between optimism and resilience was confirmed with the mediation of self-efficacy in adolescence; The results showed there was a positive and significant relationship between optimism, self-efficacy with resilience. There was a positive and significant relationship between optimism and self-efficacy directly. There was a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and resilience directly. Also, the path of optimism is significant indirectly through self-efficacy with resilience. Based on the presented model, the relationship between optimism by comparing the parameters of the proposed model with the final model, it can be concluded that the final model has a better fit than the data.DiscussionAccording to the findings of this research, it can be concluded that the closer we get to adolescence, the effect of optimism decreases and also there is a positive and significant relationship between optimism and resilience through the mediation of self-efficacy. Highly optimistic adolescents have more resilience characteristics than adolescents with low optimism; High self-efficacy teenagers have higher resilience than people with low self-efficacy; The more optimistic the teenagers were, the more self-efficacy they had. One quality that distinguishes resilient people is optimism. These people are not psychologically harmed and have a positive outlook on life's challenges, which makes them more resilient to adversity even in the face of risk and difficulty. Resilient people have plans and goals for the future, find meaning in life, and, because of their high level of optimism, do not give up easily and instead put in more effort when they fail.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the fragility of happiness beliefs and the experienced happiness with the moderating role of optimism. 225 students of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman participated in this survey. A multi-stage cluster sampling method was used to collect data, and the questionnaires were Optimism-Pessimistic, Fragility of Happiness and Subjective Happiness. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS-22 software. The results of the regression analysis showed that the fragility of happiness beliefs has a negative relationship with experienced happiness. In addition, optimism was able to moderate the relationship between the fragility of happiness beliefs and the experienced happiness. In other words, optimism reduced the relationship between the fragility of happiness beliefs and the experienced happiness. According to this, it is possible to reduce the relationship between the fragility of happiness beliefs and the experience of happiness in the students by improving their optimism.

The present study attempts to investigate the causal relationship between optimism, test anxiety and mathematical performance with the mediating role of dispositional and situational coping strategies in sophomore students of Basic Science at Kurdistan University in the academic year 2011-12. The statistical population of the study includes a total sum of 279 male and female students selected through multi-stage random sampling. Research instruments include the TAI Questionnaire, the LOT-R Test, and the pf-SOC Questionnaire, all of which had acceptable validity and reliability. A correlational method of path analysis type has been applied to the present study. The results show that in addition to having a direct effect on mathematical performance, optimism exerts an indirect effect on it through reflective as well as dispositional coping styles. Besides, the direct and indirect effects of test anxiety on mathematical performance through reactive situational coping style and suppressive coping style prove to be significant. Finally, in the reformed model, all path coefficients and model indices were significant and acceptable respectively and the reformed model proved to be appropriate.

The present study investigated the relationship of secure and insecure avoidant attachment styles with depression and life satisfaction with mediating role of optimism and social support among female undergraduate students of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. The sample consisted of 300 employees who were selected randomly by multi-stage sampling method. In order to investigate Attachment Styles Inventory (AAI; Simpson, 1990), optimism (LOT-R; Scheier, Carver & Bridge, 1994), Social Support (PSSI; Phlips, 1986), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI; Beck, 1974) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS; Ryff, Lee, Essex & Schmutte, 1994). Results showed that secure attachment life style with satisfaction and depression has respectively significant negative relationship and positive relationship, and there is respectively significant positive relationship and negative relationship between insecure avoidant attachment style and life satisfaction and depression. There are significant positive relationships between secure attachment style and social support and optimism. Research also confirmed the mediating role of optimism and social support variables.

One of the discussed themes in positive psychology is to investigate positive effects of hard stressors on individuals exposed to trauma and to determine variables that facilitate the positive effects. The object of the present study was investigating the role of coping styles and optimism in increasing posttraumatic growth (PTG) among individuals with HIV within a six – month period. With this object, we selected a sample (n = 80) with positive HIV (less than two months). Then, in order to assess the extent of the changes, in the six – month interval, the posttraumatic growth inventory was performed by the same sample again. To analyze the data, we conducted dependent t – test and multiple regression analysis besides descriptive statistics. The results showed that posttraumatic growth increased with the passage of time (t = 3.86, P < .001). In addition, the regression analysis revealed that problem – oriented and emotion – oriented styles have different effects on PTG, having in mind that when they have were used. The relationship of optimism to PTG was not significant. These results have important implications when working with persons who are exposed to trauma. On the basis of this, clinicians must be careful of growth possibility and make it eath.

This study was conducted to investigate the fitness of structural model of the relationship between religious attitudes and optimism with mental and physical health. The sample consisited of 402 Shahid Chamran University students, studying in the academic year of 2001-2002. The sample was selected randomly. The measurements were Arian Religiousness Scale, Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ), Symptoms Checklist- 25 Scale and Physical Health Scale. The results of this research indicate that religious attitudes predict optimism, optimism predicts mental health and mental health predicts physical health. Also, religious attitudes predict mental and physical health indirectly and optimism predicts physical health indirectly.
